Process/How to ApplyThe University of Virginia uses an online employment website referred to as Jobs@U.Va for filling open positions. The Jobs@ site provide you an opportunity to view all open positions at the University and submit your application for a specific opening. Positions open to external applicants can be found under the University Staff staff option. Please note that since February 2009, the University has been on an internal posting policy. All staff postings (excluding teaching and research academic faculty librarians) are posted and recruited internally. External postings can occur in two instances: a) positions where we would not find qualified internal candidates or b) positions that have been posted internally for a reasonable period of time and a qualified candidate has not been identified. For more information on that policy, read this letter from Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Susan Carkeek. Step 1: To get started, go to the Jobs@U.Va. website: https://jobs.virginia.edu. Step 2: To apply for positions, click “Create Application” from the menu on the left and create a new application. If you are applying for a staff position, click “staff application”. Step 3: Complete the application. Step 4: Search for the posting(s) that you wish to apply for and click “Apply to Posting” If you already have an application set up in the system, then you just need to login in (using your username/password created during the Create Application process) and edit your application if necessary. Search for the posting(s) and apply. Step 5:Your application will be reviewed and if selected, you will be contacted for an interview.
