Leaving Our Mark 4th Year Class Gift

The Class of 2011 achieved 76 % participation! Congratulations! Since more than 3/4 of your class participated, you will be recognized with a Limestone Brick placed at the MAA Patio!

Each member of the Class of 2011 has left his or her own unique mark on the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Now, before you receive your degree and head off to residency, you can help the Class of 2011 leave its own indelible mark.

This year, the Medical Alumni Association (MAA) is continuing the medical school’s fourth year Leaving Our Mark four week fund drive. Centered on Match Day, the campaign closes on March 31, 2001, so make your gift today!

The suggested donation is $25, but there is no minimum contribution requirement. Every gift counts.

At the end of March, your class giving percentage will be calculated based on the number of Class of 2011 students making a gift to the Annual Fund between July 1, 2010 (the beginning of this fiscal year) and March 31, 2011 (the end of the class fund drive). A brick honoring your class, including this final percentage, will be placed on the patio at the Medical Alumni Association Headquarters. Meet or exceed your class goal of 82% (the mark set by last year’s class) and the Class of 2011 will be honored with a larger limestone brick instead of the standard red brick.

We encourage you to join us in participating in our class giving campaign, which runs the month of March. Each donation will go towards the Annual Fund held at the Medical Alumni Association. Whether it was the White Coat Ceremony, a scholarship award, the Money Talks Financial Planning Seminars, Global Health Travel Funding, the HOST Program, Bedpan Bowl, or some of the other dozens of events and services offered by the MAA, we have all directly benefited from the generosity of Annual Fund donors.

We are confident that our class can beat last year's participation rate of 82%, and with the gift amount being a reasonable $25, it makes it that much more attainable. If however you can't give $25 right now, feel free to give whatever you can--your gift will still count.

New this year is the 4 year pledge, an optional add-on to your outright gift. This is also very realistic, as you are pledging to give $25 a year for the next four years. Our class will be the first to do this pledge, so let's set a great example for future graduates!

To encourage continued participation in the Annual Fund, we have created the 4 for 4th Years Pledge. In addition to making your one time 4th year gift, you can pledge to make that same $25 gift for the next four years. You will receive pledge reminders in November. If you fulfill your pledge payments on schedule each year, you will not be solicited for additional Annual Fund contributions for the duration of the pledge. You will help maintain your class’ strong participation, while saving the MAA’s resources and limiting solicitations in the coming years.
