If you are using your @alumni.virginia.edu address to forward email to your @yahoo.com address, Yahoo will block test messages to yourself unless you modify your settings.

Instructions for Yahoo settings

Log into your Yahoo account.

Click on the Options link
Under Management, click on the Filters link
Click on Add

Under the heading, If all of the following rules are true
Go to "To/Cc header:" and beside the "contains" drop down box, input @alumni.virginia.edu
 
Then go to the heading Then
and select Inbox for where you want your @alumni.virginia.edu email to be moved to.
 
Click on Add Filter.
 
Once this is done, you should receive all email addressed to your @alumni.virginia.edu address.  You can test the address by sending a test message to your active forwarding address.
